We welcome the 21 artists who will be part of the artistic residency program during the 2026–2027 season. Throughout the year, "Les Mòniques" will work collectively across various guilds connected to the resources and content made available by the center. This year's guilds are: the communication guild, the digital guild, the spatial guild, the gastronomy guild, the publishing guild, and the participation guild, which is divided into two groups.
Working through these guilds and guided by an approach centered on experimental practices, the residents will focus their stay on researching and prototyping artistic mediation devices. The goal is to open up and bring the contents of Santa Mònica closer to diverse communities and audiences.
Each guild will structure its process into three phases: an initial research phase from autumn through January; a second activity period between February and May, during which proposals will be tested with the public; and, finally, an evaluation phase to reflect on the potential development and continuity of these projects.
The artists were selected through a call for grants published on February 12. The jury particularly valued the critical potential and collective dimension of the proposals, as well as their suitability for developing experimental working methods and artistic mediation formats.
The selection committee was composed of Enric Puig, director of Santa Mònica; Victoria Sacco, curator and lecturer; and Íngrid Blanco, researcher and curator. In their selection, the committee members sought to align with the artists' shared vision to create mechanisms that challenge Santa Mònica's dominant narratives, favoring research and experimentation with counter-hegemonic formats that question the relationship between the cultural institution and its audiences.
