Jokkoo Collective kicks off Sense esquerda no hi ha punt de llum with an interactive sound and sculptural work, accompanied by an inaugural performance.
The piece combines metal chains, found objects, handcrafted microphones, and musical technology, together with irreverent and ephemeral performance dynamics. This ensemble adorns the building with stories and sounds, inviting the audience to create sound through interaction with the space, the work, and the other people present.
The work explores an African sense of cyclical and communal time, reflecting the idea that the true home of events is not within the institution, but in the street, where time flows, we encounter the unknown and the unexpected, and even strangers become intimately connected.
Jokkoo is a musical artistic collective based in Barcelona that works from the intention and the need to investigate and disseminate the most contemporary and futuristic creation of the experimental and alternative scenes from the African continent, its diaspora and allied communities around the world. They create connections and spaces to provide a platform for dissident aesthetics and narratives. The collective has six distinct personalities with common objectives: Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (Mbodj), Oscar Taylor (Opoku), Nicolas Beliot (Mooki6), Ismäel N’diaye (B4mba) and Miriam Camara (TNTC).
