Queers in Palestine / Norma Pérez

18:30 h. En palabras de personas queer en Palestina performance by Queers in Palestine.

With our presence and work, we seek to continue raising our voice, altering the status quo and mobilising for the liberation of Palestine, a reflection of the future of humanity and the pulse of social justice, reparation and global liberation. The reading will be accompanied by a viewing of works by Gaza artists.

19:15 h. La Muerte de la Norma (nacimos y el resto es drag) performance by Norma Pérez

La Muerte de la Norma (nacimos y el resto es drag) is a ceremonial performative device that activates the transvestite and drag technology as a rite of transfixion in flight, deploying a movement that allows us to displace and rethink the identity outside the hegemonic frameworks that have named and disciplined the body of the artist.

The performance is developed at the intersection between autoethnography and speculative imagination, which allows us to see the handmade transvestite through practices such as lip-sync and reenactment in a body that seeks displacement as a vital narrative, as well as the performativities that come from it. Among gestures, movements and dances, a craftsmanship is built that allows bodies historically erased to emerge as creative agents of embodied knowledge that overflow the norm to make visible these technologies of desire, production and survival that sustain the transvestite life.

Queers in Palestine

Queers in Palestine (QiP) is an independent grassroots collective, founded in October 2023, that aims to broadcast to the world the liberating voice of queer people from Palestine and mobilise them against interconnected systems of oppression – including colonialism, patriarchy and racial capitalism – fighting for justice, self-determination and liberation from the river to the sea.

Norma Pérez
