Biophony Sessions Concert

The electrovers duo Jansky, formed by the poet Laia Malo and the musician and environmentalist Jaume Reus, has recorded and sampled the natural soundscapes of Majorca and aims to re-tune the human languages of poetry and music with collective biophonies beyond human. Live, they create a new electronic sound ecosystem together with insects, mammals, birds and aquatic and plant life.

Laia Malo and Jaume Reus

Laia Malo (Berga, 1984) and Jaume Reus (Palma, 1983) live in Majorca and work at Rampa Lab, an artistic laboratory for research and experimentation with sound, words and natural soundscapes. In 2012 they formed the experimental electronic duo Jansky, which moved around the countercultural circuits of Europe, in venues as diverse as Sónar (Barcelona), the Jazzablanca Festival (Morocco), Kręgi Sztuki(Poland), Iklectik (London), the Mucem (Marseille) and the Biennale di Venezia. Their latest projects include notable works such as Insecta Dance Music (2022), co-produced by and premiered at Mercat de Música Viva de Vic; Nova volta (2024), co-produced with the Museu Marítim de Mallorca and premiered at the Coves del Drac, and Balearic Buzzings, the first sound guide of the world's pollinators, published in collaboration with IMEDEA-CSIC (Nova Editorial Moll, 2025). Among others, they have been recognised with the Suns Europe Award 2018, the Enderrock Critics' Choice Award 2019 and the BBC 3 Sound of the Year Award 2020.
