Malcolm McCarthy is a Cuban artist based in Barcelona, a founding member of the Tinta Negra collective, dedicated to creating and reflecting on issues of identity, masculinity, fatherhood and anti-racism. His latest work as a creator, ‘Black Man Solo’, addresses these issues in a profound way, reflecting on masculine identity and paternity from a critical and anti-racist perspective. He is also the creator of the installation THE BOX, an interactive booth that seeks to build a bridge between genders and promote mutual understanding.
McCarthy also presented the performance #wearenotahashtag at the CCCB, a project that explores collective healing through art. In his recent work, he has specialised in exploring masculinity from an unconventional perspective, breaking with established discourses and seeking new ways to address these complex issues.
As an actor, he has worked in outstanding theatre productions such as ‘L'onada’ at Teatre Lliure and ‘Temps Salvatge’ at Teatre Nacional de Catalunya. Recently, he participated in the projects of Spanish director Isabel Coixet, in the film ‘It Snows in Benidorm’ and the TV series ‘Foodie Love’
