Festimal

Festimal (Decompeting to be able to do, to be able to create) is a collective and unauthored proposal in the form of a program of interventions, installations, games, and open-ended questions. It’s a festive and shared moment to present the current state of the collective research group Descompetir: the art scene with other rules which has been structured around three axes (political, affective, and playful), aiming to create bonds beyond the logic of competition, placing empathy, affection, and collaboration at the centre.
 

Festimal will unfold at the entrance and throughout Santa Mònica as a constellation of actions, games, routes, and proposals that engage the public and the exhibition on competitive sports CITISSIMUM ALTISSIMUM FORTISSIMUM. Starting from two key questions —how can we decompete spaces, contexts, and structures? And how can we decompete authorship?— a series of proposals and invitations for decompetitive and activist exploration will extend throughout the venue, rooted in artistic practices and collective play.

Through situated experimentation within the art world, Festimal also invites us to explore and play together what it means to decompete in all areas of life. Dare to join in?
