Once again this year, the Santa Mònica joins in the celebration of International Museum Day and Museum Night, which this year coincide on Saturday 17 May. To celebrate this double event we invite you to enjoy the exhibition CITISSIMUM ALTISSIMUM FORTISSIMUM FORTISSIMUM, also open at night, and a special programme of activities and proposals linked to the exhibition and the lines of experimentation of the Mòniques, resident artists at the centre.

Doors open to the exhibition CITISSIMUM ALTISSIMUM FORTISSIMUM

19:00 – 24:00 h / Open doors

A major exhibition on a current phenomenon that, although it radically affects us, is underrepresented in the art world: sport as a symptom of the contemporary world. Various artistic pieces explore concepts such as the body, measurement and performance, competitiveness, spectacle and the media image, through humour, irony and play.

Curated by Cabosanroque and Enric Puig Punyet.

Saber caure també es un esport (Knowing how to fall is also a sport)

19:15h, 20:15h, 21:15h, 22:15h, 23:15h / Performance / Duration 30 minutes*.

How far does the body go? How is sport instrumentalised? What relationship is established with defeat? The performers are transformed into elite sportsmen and women, and the exhibition space into the stadium that welcomes them. The curator-artist takes on the role of coach and initiates the challenge of beating the records that will be proposed throughout the different passes. The ten artists will generate different presences and poetics that range from repetition and tiredness to defeat and sportsmanship. A visual and corporal challenge that fuses art and sport.

By the Hospital de Artistas de La Juan Gallery.

Participants: Ruben Tamarit, Alba Tesias, Nil del Rio, Ana Novoa, Guillermo PDF, Registered, Jimena Tercero, Antonio Sanchez, Alejandra Gradis, Ascen Soto and Juan Gómez Alemán.

Internal Communication, a comic strip by Les Mòniques

19:00 – 23:30 h / Installation

The comic ‘Comunicació Interna’ tells the story of the process of choosing and using a communication platform by Les Mòniques, resident artists at the Santa Mònica arts centre. It shares learnings on communication needs, digital ethics and low tech references, with the aim that anyone who wants to can reuse the ideas.

Produced by the Communication Guild 23-24 (Anna Vilamú, Lara Martínez and Ángela Palacios) in collaboration with Roberta Vázquez. With the participation of Ezequiel Soriano.

Anti-Ableist Self-Suggestion

19:00 h while stocks last / Participative Space

Parade with a limited print run of the fanzine ‘Autosuggestió Anticapacitista’ that visitors will be able to take away with them. The publication is designed for creators, artists and curators to review their practices from an anti-ableism perspective, incorporating access as a potential creative impulse rather than an imposition in their creative processes.

Installation by Tatiana Antoni Conesa of the Participation Guild 24-25
