El silenci de la fera explores the all-too-familiar pattern in the cultural sphere of silencing Asian or Asian-descendant characters on the few occasions they actually appear, particularly when those characters are women. These figures are often deprived of a voice under the pretext of being “mysterious” or outsiders who do not speak the language. But we are here. We exist. We understand what is happening around us. And we have a voice. To roar. To shout. To sing. And to speak out.
The performance will be followed by a conversation with the audience to unpack the themes raised by the monologue, inviting reflection on how different communities are represented across cultural fields and on the impact this has on our society, both now and as a testament and legacy for the future.
