Poesia de mars i oceans

Poets and writers Fàtima Saheb and Quinni Martínez Hernández will reflect on the relationship between their respective works, Mares migrants and La massa vociferant, and on the potential of the written word to shape new shared ways of imagining the world.

The conversation will be followed by a short reading of poems and texts from their work, accompanied by the ancestral sound of Andy Oh!’s drum.

Fàtima Saheb (1995) is a poet and writer whose roots lie in Larache, Morocco, and whose wings have carried her to Barcelona. The ideals of social harmony held by her grandfather, the strength and beauty of her mother’s migration, and other magical coincidences of maktoub (“destiny” in Arabic) have led her to view writing as a form of activism. She believes that poetry builds bridges of emotion and humanity, fostering safe spaces where we can all grow and listen to one another without judgement or prejudice.
 

Quinni Martínez Hernández (1979) is a Raizal Afro-Colombian writer from the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. She currently lives in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona. Quinni defines herself as a poet, improviser and journalist, having completed a diploma in Culture, Community Media, Public Opinion and Citizen Participation. She is also the creator and editor of Plataforma Cero, a project for up-and-coming writers, the founder of the itinerant writing workshop Mujeres del Maíz, and the creator and director of the Itinerant Migrant Book Fair (FILMIG). Her poems have been published in several books.
