‘De blanco, muerte’, de Iona Quesada y Carmen Barreiro
Experimental cinema allows us to work with strategies that would be absolutely infeasible in the context of big (or not so big) productions. The fact that we can dispense with large human teams and complex equipment means that the creative process can be resized on a different scale: the camera ceases to be a technological intruder and becomes an extension of our own eye. The solitary filmmaker becomes invisible and their attention, freed from formalisms, is able to focus on the tiniest of accidents, the protagonist of everyday life. This gained proximity allows us to immerse ourselves in domestic, marginal or deeply personal spaces, and brings us back to the original power of the cinematographer: the ability to be surprised by the world and to keep, forever, the light of a moment that will never be repeated.
We will explore these experiences through the projects De blanco, muerte, by Iona Quesada and Carmen Barreiro, and 2 inviernos I, by manuela prado paz (super-8 film projection with live sound improv).

With the participation of Carmen Barreiro, Iona Quesada and manuela prado paz
Iona Quesada and Carmen Barreiro met while studying fine art in Barcelona, with a common fixation on the archive, memory and the experimental forms these can take when narrated in the present. Since then, their artistic trajectory has been built on explorations in photography, film, documentary and scenography that seek to shape a political gaze on contemporary narratives of art.
manu prado paz is a visual artist and teacher from Uruguay, where she took part in projects such as Tampoco la Barbarie and Colectivo Basura. She has participated in collective photographic exhibitions at Casa Arbus, Sala Pareja, Pera de Goma and the Laboratorio de Lenguajes Transversales.
