Estampa
A screening of audiovisual works by Estampa, a Barcelona-based collective of programmers, filmmakers and researchers, followed by a guided presentation exploring the processes, images and technologies that shape their artistic practice.
Spanning works created between 2018 and 2026, the session will cover some of the collective’s main fields of activity: artificial intelligence and computer vision, experimental animation, the critical reinterpretation of archives, and the audiovisual essay.
The works offer different ways of critically engaging with images, the technologies that produce them, and contemporary modes of perception and representation.
The screening will be accompanied by a presentation from the collective, offering insights into the research processes, working methods and contexts that define their artistic practice.

¿Qué es lo que ves, YOLO9000? (2019, 13 min 43 sec, HD, 16:9)
YOLO9000 is an object recognition neural network trained on a dataset of 9,418 words and millions of images. It is one of many computer vision tools currently under development for the automatic annotation of images. ¿Qué es lo que ves, YOLO9000? presents an unorthodox audiovisual investigation into its mechanisms, possibilities and world. Based on the project El mal alumne. Pedagogia crítica per a intel·ligències artificials (Estampa, 2017-2018).
Espècies marcianes (2021, 2 min 47 sec, HD, 16:9)
A single-channel adaptation of the installation “Martian Species”, created for the exhibition Mars. The Red Mirror (CCCB).
NSFW (2018, 2 min, SD, 1:1, silent)
A generative network has been trained on images from mainstream pornography. The result dismantles normative pornographic imagery and presents an amalgam of flesh and orifices.
Paisanajes (2026, 7 min 31 sec, HD, 16:9)
A countercurrent interpretation of the Fototeka archive (Kutxa Fundazioa). By detecting recurring poses in the photographs (postures, gestures and other bodily positions characteristic of local people at the time), it transforms still images into moving ones. This fictional choreography, or chronophotography, appropriates the archive to create a cinematic exercise that connects bodies and ways of inhabiting space across different historical periods.

Estampa is a Barcelona-based collective of programmers, filmmakers and researchers.
Rooted in artistic research, their practice is driven by a particular interest in audiovisual and digital technologies, archives, and the relationship between art and science. Through installations, audiovisual works, publications and research projects, the collective critically explores contemporary modes of image production, circulation and interpretation, as well as the ideas and narratives surrounding emerging technologies.
Their work addresses issues related to computer vision, artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems and the cultural uses of digital technologies, combining formal experimentation with critical analysis.
Their installations have been presented at institutions including Jeu de Paume (Paris), Modern Art Oxford and the CCCB, as well as at festivals, art centres and research spaces internationally. In 2025, they received the City of Barcelona Award for Digital Culture.
