A screening of Fils d’oblit (Francesca Llopis, 2011), followed by a participatory exploration of the poetry of Maria Mercè Marçal and touch.
In Fils d’oblit (2011), Francesca Llopis kneels before the “impure, obscene, mortal body”, as described by the voice reciting the poetry of Maria Mercè Marçal. Body of mine, what are you telling me? The body appears fragile yet empowered. Flesh, skin and scar. A zip of flesh left imperfectly fastened, yet immovable. Immovable. Breathing, pleasure, stopping, skin, illness, breathing, pleasure, stopping.
The screening will be accompanied by an intervention from blanca arias, curator of the Hamaca series, who will weave connections between Francesca Llopis’ work and the poetry of Maria Mercè Marçal, which inspired Fils d’oblit.
Approaching the voice with haptic sensitivity, we will explore ways of caressing, holding and scratching with words. Understanding the skin not as a boundary but as a porous, permeable membrane, we will ask: How can we make room for poetry in the fold? How can we archive verses in flesh, and flesh in verse? How can we shape language as though it were a body?

Since 1981, Francesca Llopis has created site-specific exhibitions and installations. Throughout her work, she has used the maze as a metaphor for the city, leading into the cavity, a highly significant “non-place” that the artist identifies as a figure of her own identity. Deeply poetic in character, her practice is particularly concerned with engaging viewers in their own relationship to the imagined landscape, drawing them in and ensnaring them in a kind of symbolic web.
blanca arias is an artist-researcher, curator and cultural mediator. Her practice centres on the image, from which she imagines possible lesbofeminist gestures and material forms. She is a member of Bestiari Queer (with Víctor Ramírez Tur) and amor rumor (with edu rubio), two collectives working at the intersection of art, pedagogy and critical thought, and also volunteers at the Ca la Dona archive. Blandito blandito. ¿Qué le hacemos les feministas al arte? [Soft and squishy. What do we feminists do to art?] (Cielo Santo) is her first book.
