Interrupcions: Performative investigations into synchronicity

Interrupcions is an investigation into synchronicity and telepathy. The project involves deep listening techniques that engage all the senses, including those that may extend beyond the body and offer the possibility of accessing information transmitted and perceived by other beings or the environment. The investigation unfolds through performances carried out simultaneously by some of the artists present in the room and others connected by videoconference from their respective countries. The artists improvise while being continuously interrupted by the audience. Every three minutes, audience members randomly select which performers will act. The audience also decides how and with whom the artists perform. Synchronies emerge even though none of the performers has any prior knowledge of the others’ actions.

Ocells al Cap is an international group of women performance artists, created in 2014. Their practice explores intuitive and telepathic forms of communication through collective works. They meet to develop methodologies and exercises designed to observe and test their ability to experience these connections. Over the years, they have built up a series of exercises and techniques rooted in transformative mind–body–spirit practices such as tai chi and meditation. The group furthers its work through residencies, workshops and public performances.
