Artwork

Cinthya Fung, sPAIN, 2024, multimedia installation (monitor, computer, video game controller), variable dimensions.

sPAIN is an interactive installation in video game format that re-imagines the waiting room faced by migrants in their regularisation process in Spain. Through humour and irony, the play highlights the absurdity and complexity of these procedures, turning the game into an almost impossible challenge to overcome.

Cinthya Fung

Cinthya Fung is a multidisciplinary artist from Lima, Peru, whose work explores self-identity, migration and culture through media such as video performance, video games, photography, design and installation, with a playful and experiential approach.

Her migratory experience, marked by a childhood divided between Peru and the United States, and her subsequent settlement in Spain in 2017, constantly runs through her work, in which she reflects on the dynamics of displacement, the queer  identity and her Tusán roots (people of Chinese-Peruvian descent).

She has participated in group exhibitions internationally, collaborating with initiatives such as the Catàrsia artist residency at the CCCB (2023-2024), the Furiasia festival (2021-2022) and the magazine We Are Still Here (2021), a response to the rise of anti-Asian racism during the pandemic. For nine years, she also co-directed Magicbus, a visual production and art direction studio for commercial brands and creative workshops.

Whispers, hubbub and paradoxes

“Whispers, hubbub and paradoxes. Attempts towards a politics of enunciation" continues a series of conversations, from the contexts in which we live, about the ways in which we inhabit the paradoxes of enunciation and representation.
