Etcétera, Manifiesto Errorista, 2005-2025, graphic print on paper, 110 × 75 cm, variable dimensions.
Muro de errores (Wall of errors) is not a place for regrets. It is a space for action: to think and make mistakes as we travel the map in an anonymous collective error. An erratic cartography in times when the figure of the global enemy is once again an excuse to install violence and the persecution of entire populations.
The installation celebrates twenty years of the Movimiento Internacional Errorista and invites the public to share their own failures, errors and mistakes. On 5 November 2005, Internacional Errorista was founded when the Argentine collective Etcétera, together with a group of internationalist allies, decided to embark on a mission in response to the media's creation of the figure of the global enemy, used as a psychological campaign of terror after the attack on the Twin Towers. Errorism emerged to confront the dangerous association and stigmatisation of citizens of the Global South with the figure of the terrorist.
Errorism arises from error, a movement that claims error as a way of human liberation: error as a noun, to err as a verb.
Posters with the first five points of the extensive Manifiesto Errorista, published for the first time in 2005 in ten languages, are displayed on the walls of Santa Mònica. In this exhibition, translations into catalan, arabic, filipino (baybayin, tagalog), amazigh and pretoguês have been carried out by the interpretation/translation Group linked to the project.
Etcétera, formed in 1997 in Buenos Aires, is a multidisciplinary collective made up of artists from the performing and visual arts. The collective emerged with the intention of bringing art to social spaces through actions, performances and urban interventions, as well as exhibitions, installations and works in national and international cultural and artistic institutions. In 2005, they founded the Movimiento Internacional Errorista, an organisation that affirms error as a philosophy of life. Etcétera has participated in numerous international exhibitions, including the 13th Berlin Biennale (2025), Biennale SUR (2023) and the Bienal de Performance (Buenos Aires, 2017 and 2022); in Jakarta (2015), São Paulo (2014), Athens (2013), Istanbul (2009) and Taipei (2008), and at documenta 13 (2012), as well as Pacific Standard Time, Getty Museum (Los Angeles, 2017); Collective Creativity, Kunsthalle Fridericianum (Kassel, 2005), and ExArgentina, Ludwig Museum (Cologne, Germany, 2004). 2013: International Award for Participative Art, Bologna, Italy. 2015: Prince Claus Award, Netherlands. 2023: Platinum Konex Award for Visual Arts (Argentina). Since 2007, Loreto Garín Guzmán and Federico Zukerfeld have coordinated activities, the archive and other initiatives.
