Projecció i col·loqui amb Ferran Fages
Activity open to all and free of charge, limited to 55 people
Language: Catalan
Habitual Video Team
A screening of a video featuring a selection of performances by Ferran Fages between 1999 and 2021, followed by a conversation with the artist.
Ferran Fages (Barcelona, 1974) is a musician and sound artist. Active since 1998, his artistic journey has evolved from a fascination with both composition and improvisation.
An inquisitive experimenter, Fages explores, plays and composes by reworking and redefining the timbral possibilities of his instruments. Guided by the principle that less is more, he has developed a body of research centred on the guitar, using alternative tunings and dispensing with effects altogether. The raw, unembellished quality of his sound belies the economy of means behind it.
He has released more than one hundred recordings, and his work has been presented at festivals and concert series across Spain and Europe. He also curated the exhibition LISTENING WITH YOUR HANDS: Obsolete Media, Ephemeral Messages at Barcelona’s Museu de la Música (15/05/2023 - 07/01/2024). Building on the research undertaken for this exhibition, he embarked on a new line of work as an independent researcher, examining the relationship between sound and the analogue archive in a digital environment from the practical perspective of both listener and musician.
In this session, we will watch a video featuring a selection of his performances between 1999 and 2021.
