Dimecres de so i cos

Vanessa Kamp

In Devour Me, Rico Rico, Sandi Bonbon, Speak English and Crabwalker inhabit sensory spaces and soundscapes as though they were a Venn diagram of movement, sound, texture and altered states. The performers traverse and embody fractured, interwoven landscapes where, rather than relying on character development or narrative, they enter character zones and states that implicitly question how we construct and navigate perception. The piece does more than disrupt performative binaries or doctrines of identity. It also skews and remoulds our understanding of performance, theatre, dance, movement and narrative through the use of playback, music, sound and video projection.

Vanessa Kamp is a US artist based in Barcelona. With a background in linguistics, fine arts and textile art, their practice moves across new forms of embodied language and performance. They create movement, sound, text, video, costumes and original objects rooted in action, perception and metaphor to explore themes of power and identity. They have presented their work in Barcelona at Antic Teatre, where they received the On el Teatre Batega Award in 2022 and 2024, and at Sala Melmac; in Iceland at the Reykjavik Fringe Festival; and in the United States at the San Francisco Fringe Festival, where they received the Techie’s Choice Award in 2025, and at the Cannonball Festival in Philadelphia..
