Africa Moment presents a performance session inspired by the work L'Expat, by the choreographer Salim Mzé Hamadi.

L'Expat is a scenic proposal that combines theatre and dance to question the concept of expat and its postcolonial implications. Inspired by the essay L'Expat des relations humaines, by Salim Mzé Hamadi Moissi, the play tells the story of a man facing the challenge of expatriation, his encounters and the confrontation with his own culture of origin.

Through humour, dance and theatre, L'Expat focuses on privilege, identity and belonging to highlight the contradictions of Western discourse on migration. Through a lively and autobiographical dramaturgy, the artist reflects on displacement, return and the search for roots, transforming the text into movement and body.

At the age of eighteen, Salim Mzé Hamadi Moissi, originally from Grande Comore, left his island to study in Senegal. Far from his family, he discovered the power of krump thanks to the documentary Rize, by David LaChapelle, and his encounter with hiphop dance allowed him to travel the world. In 2014, he decided to return to the Comoros, and that return marked the beginning of a profound reflection on himself and his relationship with his culture, first embodied in an essay and today transformed for the stage.
