The trophy is a symbolic object that recognises accomplishment and originates from objects offered on Roman battlefields as a record of victory. The trophy room designed by Curro Claret brings together trophies from various awards and contests selected from different fields and contexts that, when juxtaposed, raise questions about the nature of trophies and competition itself. A contest held as part of the exhibition will generate further trophies that will gradually be added to this showcase of achievements.
With the collaboration of Tasio Ramz and Aitana Soliva.
Curro Claret works as a freelance designer creating objects, furniture, artifacts, spaces, and actions for companies (such as BD Barcelona Design, Camper, Metalarte, Mahou, or Zicla), foundations (including Arrels Fundació, Fundació Tot Raval, Impulsem, Fundación San Martín de Porres, and the We Are Water Foundation), as well as for art centers, galleries, and private clients. He also occasionally teaches, particularly at the Elisava School of Design.
His projects often explore the critical role individuals play in shaping their environment, involving marginalized communities in the creative process. Some of his pieces have been exhibited internationally and are part of collections such as the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, La Panera in Lleida, Jesuitenkirche (Lower Austria Contemporary), IASPIS, and the Q. Loss Collection, among others. He has curated exhibitions such as Krea. Different Views in Creative Processes (with Martín Azúa, at the Design Hub) and Zona intermèdia. Design, Art and Society (ACVic). His work has been featured in various publications and books, including Retrato imperfecto (GG, 2014) and The Design Encyclopedia (MoMA, 2004). He has received accolades such as the Madrid Design Fest Career Award 2022, Designer of the Year 2015 by AD España, the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona 2013 in design, and the second prize for Best Recycled Product 2011 from EAPRO.
